the END of a hiatus

Katara

Emotional: When last we left off with our intrepid heroine, a lot of very dear people to her had gone home. This has only gotten worse since the hiatus. Chopper, her friend, mentor, and student has left. Katie, the girl she cared for as a little sister, has left.

Katara can take a lot. She managed her nearly-boyfriend going home pretty well. But following that up with the person she was closet to outside of her family (Ginko) and a brother-like-figure (Sanji) and then Derek, someone she'd come to respect and care for was a lot. During the beginning of the hiatus, she was grieving.

Katara's grieving looks like an unnatural silence, is manifested through Extreme Business. The Avatar House is now spotless. She has increased her nightly practice time from one-two hours to two-four hours. She has not slept well. She is, fortunately, still eating. Unfortunately, she is not enjoying it, and it is an act of will.

This is not the only difficult she's faced. Nami, one of her remaining closest friends, has been mallynapped. Again. Fortunately, she has decided to keep her friendship with Shikamaru, but even this is a torment to her. She doesn't understand their world, the decisions they've made as ninja make her uncomfortable, and the question she raised in her post about the powers is still unresolved. So even though she's done what she could to patch that friendship up, it is unlikely she would seek him out.

It is unlikely she would seek anyone out, to be honest, unless there is something she could do to help them. For an extrovert such as Katara, she's turning into a bit of a loner - she is just not enjoying things. She knows this is unhealthy, Aang showed her that. But she doesn't know how to shake it. She also seems mostly determined not to talk about it and withdraw.

...oocly, I am concerned for her. I feel as though I may be losing my grip on her and will be canon-reviewing.

Physical: Katara has been getting thinner and slightly more muscular. More exercise, less food. Less sleep has resulted in dulling some her usual quick and competent movements. There probably shadows under her eyes, and when she is setting out to do something, there is a grim set to her eyes that lets you know she's functioning on pure determination right now.

Results?

Of course - this is how I see her in my mind without any interference. Has anyone interfered? Want to handwave something in AIM or Plurk or the like? Let me know!

Emotional: Rogue's emotions are the usual tumult. But besides Anne going home and being stuck in Luceti, she's doing pretty good! Her life has settled into a routine, and far from complaining, Rogue likes routines. She's probably clashing heads with Kurt a bit more now that he's home ALL THE TIME, but she's got her time in the Item Shop, her personal and team routines in the Battle Dome, her guitar, her sketch book, and the wonderful, wonderful library.

She's also started talking with Kippin as well as Nala.

Physical: Healthy! Still with 'cursed skin.'

Results?

Anyone talk to her during this time about anything?

Gracia Hughes

Emotional: Gracia Hughes: Single Mom. Is. Single again.

This was really, really hard. Seeing Elicia go through this twice, not to mention the fact that she'd hardly gotten over the fact that Maes was alive and now feels that she missed her chance. Gracia has done her best to live her life with no regrets. This is a regret she will always have.

She's been spending her time focused around Elicia, walking her daughter to and from school. And baking. So much baking.

Physical: She's probably a bit wan, but other than that, fit as a fiddle!

Results:

/sob, I just looked back on her 'Maes has gone home' post and realized why those threads weren't finished - I dropped them! I'm so sorry, guys, I don't know what happened there. If you want to handwave something or want me to go back and work on them, I will!
