Is it wrong to write a fanfic just because you have the title?  Because right now I totally want to write an Azula and Ozai introspective called Jacob Grasping at the Heel.

In other news, if you're not watching Avatar: The Last Airbender, what are you doing?

To entice you into my newest near-obsession, I bring you a snippet of fanfic.  It's partially a reaction-fic to one of my favorite characters, known to [profile] inkycloud and myself as She-Who-Has-No-Off-Switch, who frequently gets kidnapped and then turned into some sort of weak, doesn't escape, doesn't even try THING.  And...no.  So Katara may be a bit OOC, since I am writing out of reaction, but I think I got the others fairly spot-on.  I haven't decided if I'm going to pick this up more or not, since I don't think Azula would go down without a fight, but right now, I feel satisfied enough with it to post.

So I let my fingers start to type last night and this is what came out.  It might be too Monday for this right now, or it might be a way to ease into the week.  Either way, I wanted to post it before I forgot my intent.

So, how's your Monday going?

The rules:
* Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
* People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
* At the end of your blog, you need to choose (8) people to get tagged and list their names.
* Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog. (Unless they beat you to it.)

And in the spirit of meme's...here's a drabble I owe [personal profile] moonlithuntress.

I will write a drabble for the first ten people who comment with one request of 100 words exactly (or not so exactly). In return, the have to post this in their journal.

These are the fandoms you can choose from (no pairing or any het pairing)

somescribbles: (Hey--it's me)

Life continues very much as it ever was.  I wake up around 6, do the necessary, go to work, get home around 6 and then tramp all around tending to various and sundry things.

I am renewing my resolution to write for at least fifteen minutes a day.  Explative, but I hate schedules.  Always have.  But it seems like that's the only way I can get things done, because otherwise life gets taken up with so much STUFF.  At least if I put all the stuff in a time-line it feels like I'm accomplishing something.

I did a little writing today, mostly purposeless stuff.  I finally wrote the Wolverine/Rogue oneshot I'd been thinking of for ages.  No one have a coniption, it's strictly platonic.

And you can blame [personal profile] quoth_the_ravyn  for this little bit of Wolverine introspection.  Granted, this takes place probably pretty early on...maybe the first year or so...

In other news, visit with the cousin was fantastic, this weekend Me Dear Bro is coming up for his birthday (must...buy...present).

And Happy Birthday [profile] d_ragondaughter!!  Much joy to you on this day.

It's Friday, work is slow (Praise be!) and I have time to post this. This Drabble was written in response to a challenge from my writing group to incorporate one of three sentences. I chose: "He looked down at the tofu bucket with a sense of gathering doom."

You know you want to read me )

I hope you enjoy(ed) it!

As some of you know, I have now joined the world of the fully employed; 8:30-6:00, Monday through Friday. This has seriously put a crimp on my free time and therefore any writing attempts are being reevaluated. I have, however, joined an online writing group that I am attempting to remain involved with, and for that group we just had a Drabble night, and I thought some of you may be interested in what I churned out.

Fear not! I am not abandoning any of my stories and will do my darnedest to get y'all an update on "Letters" sometime this weekend--no promises, though.

Maybe this will help me get my head into the game.

A bit of that...

I went to the mall today with my friend Jen and her 9 month old son Joe. It's the first time I've been shopping with a baby, but that kid was as close to an angel as it's possible for 9-month old to be. I was very impressed. I had a sort of age jolt--I am old enough to be walking around the mall with friends who have babies, friends who are married, friends who've moved out of state to pursue jobs. We can talk about all sorts of "grown-up" things and it's OK, it's expected. It's...weird. But at the same time, it feels right. Hmm. I don't think that I want to think about this too much. *Backs away from the quicksand introspection pit slowly.*

Of course, my favorite store that we went to was Barnes and Noble. I love that store! There's just something about being surrounded by books that makes me happy. You should have seen me when my county decided that it would give out county library cards so that the unfortunate peons like me who did not have a library in their town could actually borrow books. The county library card was a shiny yellow piece of plastic and after receiving it I literally spun around in the parking lot singing "I've got the golden ticket." (OK, maybe I twirled around ONCE by my car and hummed...) But when I went to the library with it in hand for the first time, I did feel like Charlie in the chocolate factory or Aladdin in the Cave of Wonders. Except with my little plastic card I could get as much as I wanted! Ah, it was a great day.

I've decided to post a little drabble I wrote over a year ago. It's a spin off of The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupery (accent mark on the 'e'). Technically, I suppose, it's a children's book. Ah, but it's wonderful. I hope you've read it.

After the Little Prince Left )

Hope you enjoyed that. The book, of course, is better.

Happy Wednesday, everyone!
